Our first big camping trip of the summer.

Destination: Virginia

On our way down, we stayed at the Hagerstown KOA in Maryland. We ordered a yummy pizza for dinner while the kiddos got all their energy out in the pool! (One of the main reasons we love the KOA’s so much is because usually they always have pools for the kids!)

The next day we traveled to Chesapeake Bay KOA in Cape Charles, Virginia. Add this to one of my top fave places to camp! We were right by the bay and the kids had a pool to swim in too! Not to mention, we could not have asked for better weather, it was absolutely beautiful!!

While there, we drove to Chincoteague to see the wild ponies (highly requested by all the littles + mama too)! Then we went inside the lighthouse there as well!

We asked for recommendations from people who have visited before & man did they deliver. Someone recommended The Drift to us for lunch & 10/10 they had some delicious sandwiches!

Sundays relaxing beach + pool day was much needed! Again, the food recommendations were top notch. We tried The Shanty and it was so, so good! Pro tip: They don’t take reservations or do carryout & they don’t have crab!
For our last day in Virginia we traveled to Norfolk & went to the nautical museum! I’m more of a beach goer but Ryan was super excited to visit this museum & had been talking about it for weeks before the trip! It lived up to his hype & I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it as well! So you’re reading it here, Ryan & Cortney approved! We toured the USS Wisconsin BB-64. Although we didn’t have enough time to explore the whole thing, what we did see was really neat!

We ended the day with a 2 hour boat cruise tour to see all the Navy ships in Norfolk! So fun & different from our norm! All the history was amazing. On the cruise back we even go to see dolphins!

Tuesday we started our journey home, stopping for the night at Pittsburgh KOA in Pennsylvania & loaded up bright & early Wednesday to head home!
